my favorite story in the star wars eu is that the red droid that luke and uncle owen almost got instead of r2 was actually a force sensitive droid that foresaw the entirety of the original trilogy’s events in a dream and, knowing that luke acquiring r2 would eventually lead to the fall of the empire, purposely blew its motivator to set this exact sequence of events in motion
