I’m still amazed by the fact how much the Force Bond revealed about Rey’s character.

She stood her ground against Kylo in their first interactions showing her ferociousness and bravery.

And yet in the end she was willing to understand the “monster” Kylo Ren and she embraced his real name Ben really quickly showing how much empathy she has for others.

And also the way she hides this bond form Luke. Her first reaction was to pretend that nothing happened. When she just had the conversation with the her archenemy - the one who she’s supposed to defeat. Despite the fact that she was not even going to listen to him trying to persuade her, her train thought literally this: “that Kylo Ren can communicate with me through the Force. This is just horrible. I hope Luke - the guy who knows so much about the Force and who could help me block it - will never find out about that”. It really hints at her already existing interest in him which showed itself back in TFA.

And then the famous handholding scene. Kylo’s “you’re not alone” was extremely important to his character. It showed how much he does care about her - the girl who defeated him in every possible way. But Rey saying “neither are you” (!) back at him is a game changer.

You could interpret Kylo’s line that he was simply reassuring her. Rey has Finn and Leia and her resistance buddies and it seems that Luke is there for her too. Kylo, for all he knows, is just one of the people she knows and who happened to be around her when she felt vulnerable.

But Rey KNOWS that he has noone. That he’s surrounded by enemies who would be ready to kill him at any moment and that his master is basically using him for his power. So when she, of all people, reassures him that he’s not alone too, it could only mean one thing.

That she’s here for him. That she doesn’t want to abandon him. That she is ready to accept him too.

And then she actually reaches out to him.

I can only imagine what that one line and simple gesture did to poor guy. No wonder he immediately had the resolve to deal with Snoke once and for all after this.

And it does show that Rey relates to his struggle. That she was afraid of him because she felt it too. And that she realized that both of them don’t have to feel alone when they have each other - connected by the will of the Force.

TL;DR - Rey was secretly thirsty for Kylo all along ever since TFA and the moment the Force Bond gave her a chance to climb that man like a tree, she took it.

YES. THIS. When I first saw she hid it all from Luke I was like “Oh girrrrrl, Kylo still confuses the hell out of you, you want to hate him and you should but you soon discover that you don’t and you don’t want Luke to know about any of it because you secretly like this deep connection with your new enemy a.k.a. the handsome lost Skywalker/Solo son.”

We live in a shitty world, filled with terrible things, but this love story gives my heart a little lift every time I think about it.
